Formal bamboo whisk made from kurotake (black bamboo) for the Mushanokojisenke school (武者小路千家), Kankyuuan style. The prongs are straight all the way to the tip, and the tips are shaved slightly thicker than the Senke-gata (or “Senke shape”). The chasen for the Mushanokojisenke is traditionally made from small black bamboo, and the number of prongs is about the same as the Kazuho (approx. 70 prongs) of the Urasenke school.

This chasen is crafted by Komakichi Kubo and his family. Please note that each item is exquisitely hand-crafted and unique so the shipped pieces may not exactly match the photo. This item comes in an original paper box from Komakichi.

Before every use, please soak the prongs in warm water for 5 minutes to soften the tips.
